ThermiDry

Treatment for Axillary Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

The ThermiDry® percutaneous ablation of axillary sweat glands has been designed for patients with excessive sweating called hyperhydrosis – a condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration in excess of that required for the normal regulation of body temperature.

This condition affects 2.8% of Americans, some 7.8 million people, and half of these suffer from axillary hyperhidrosis. Botox® will help dry up these hyperactive sweat glands but very large quantities (100 units per side), high cost, painful and frequent injections are required to control this condition with Botox®. The ThermiDry® radiofrequency treatment can treat this condition equally effectively by heating the subdermal glands and knocking out their function during a one hour, minimally invasive procedure.

This is the most effective non-surgical single session treatment for armpit sweating. Thermi-Dry heats up the sweat glands to a temperature which damages them permanently, ending up with a dry armpit. The procedure takes about an hour.

Some swelling and soreness is expected during the following week, which will resolve uneventfully.

Thermi Dry is the ultimate solution for people who are tired of being injected on the armpits 2-3 times a year.

Problem or Condition

Hyperhidrosis/Sweating

I am beyond pleased with the ThermiDry procedure. I have dealt with severe hyperhidrosis since age 14. I have never been able to wear light colored shirts without having sweat marks under my armpits. It was embarrassing. I tried prescription deodorant and even a variety of over the counter brands, which never provided me with relief. When I heard Dr. Thaxton was performing this amazing procedure, I jumped right on it. I had two different ThermiDry operations with minimal pain and scaring. I was able to go back to the gym and work the following day. I am glad to say my armpit sweating has decreased tremendously. I wore a red t-shirt to Disney World this summer with no issues and my scrub tops are not getting stained. On the plus side, I don’t have to shave as often either. I highly recommend this procedure!! Dr. Thaxton and staff, Thank you for helping me! You were so kind and caring! I really appreciate it! This has been the best decision I could have made.
